So, What's A S A?

"For Africa to me... is more than a glamorous fact. It is a historical truth. No man can know where he is going unless he knows exactly where he has been and exactly how he arrived at his present place."

- Maya Angelou

The African Students Association, originally founded in the mid-1970's, was established to promote the awareness, understanding, and celebration of African culture and history within the Rensselaer community. Through conversation and activities, we aim to instill in all who arrive, from first comers to general body members, the richness and diversity of the continent.
In a world where misunderstandings and stereotypes can mar one's idea of a culture or people, we strive to be the antithesis. Through learning and active participation, we believe that members will see the many walks of life within Africa as beautiful and special in their own ways.
Meetings for the ASA are usually held in the Rensselaer Union Room 3202 on Wednesdays biweekly. Tell your friends!
